Hi, I would like to join the raffle for the book :) And on clearing out: I had one book entitled “Letting Go of Clutter” which I finally, you guessed it, let go. On the other hand, one person’s clutter is another person’s treasured and life affirming memory - especially when the very touch of it can spark feeling in your gut. While my well-curated artifacts spend the majority of their time in a box I seldom open, I know that when I do they will inform me in a way no digital representation could.

I love your cleansing initiative. so freeing in so many ways. I'd love to enter your contest for most any book you've gleaned from your shelves -)

Ooh, I love the idea of "Wild Life" -- thanks for the tip. I really enjoy Katherine Rundell's "Consider the [Name of Animal]" series in the London Review of Books. Each one is a fun gem. This sounds like it's in a similar vein.

p.s. your desk area looks great! :) I'm cleaning today too and definitely feeling the urgency...

Thanks for your newsletter, Betsy. You're an inspiration.

Oh to have a desk that looked like that. To have pulled out all the books and thinned through them, the boxes and bins and drawers. Hasn't happened yet, but I hang onto the idea that one day it will... little by little, day at a time. Meantime, this is the first year I've actually kept a record of all the books I read. This year's total 52, which I thought was a kind of neat rounding out. I listened to three audio books, but I only listen to them when I take long drives, and what with the pandemic, only a few (well, three) of those. I read a mix of fiction, nonfiction, (lots of memoir), and poetry. My favorite of all the books: "The Book of Delights," by Ross Gay.
