After birth we have one guarantee: death. And still it is painful and often times shocking when, within our circle, someone departs physically, leaving behind memories held together by heartfelt emotions and feelings of love. Even though you have had 60+ years living alongside your brother, it's never enough. Your heart is in pain, so I wish you healing; you will always have joy in your heart thinking about him.

Oh no Elizabeth. This is so shocking and sad. I wish I could give you a hug. Your brother sounded so awesome. I know the area he lived in ( we had a second home in NH) and the people there are just the salt of the earth. He sounded so giving and lovely. Much love to you and your family.

Betsy, I often hoard your letters to read in a quiet moment when I can give my full attention to them. I’m so sorry I did that with this one, as we’ve been in conversation since and I had no idea you were going through this 🤦‍♀️ I’m so, so sorry to hear about your brother’s passing. I will be thinking of you and your family.

Dear Elizabeth, my sincerest heartfelt condolences for the loss of your brother. I can't say I know what that feels like for you. Because your brother is unique, you are unique, and so is your relationship.

The only place I can speak from is the overwhelming experience of grief and disbelief and shock I felt when my youngest brother died. We were a gang of five too. Four brothers and me.

From what I read between your lines I know, your brother will always be with you. The pain may never go away, but the bond will never be broken 💕🙏
