I'm a dedicated daily walker, in all weather, a commitment, but not on the level of runner

Walking is wonderful. And crazy weather can make it more so.

I would love to read Seabiscuit too. If I win the book giveaway lottery, I will send it to PJ when I finish it :-)

My all-time favorite book about running is by Bernd Heinrich. He's a remarkable man and hard to categorize. You could call him a naturalist, zoologist and professor emeritus at UVM and author of many unforgettable books including "Why We Run." The book covers a lot of fascinating research that relates to running including animal (such as hummingbirds) metabolism. He's written many of my favorite books, in fact. AND...he has a new book coming out this July: "Racing the Clock: A Running Life with Nature." For runners, readers and nature devotees, this book is sure to be a wonder. Here's a link to an ultra-long piece about Heinrich, the ultra runner: https://ultrarunninghistory.com/bernd-heinrich/

I loved Heinrich's book "One Wild Bird At at a Time" but didn't know he was a runner. His ability to observe without interfering with nature is a beautiful thing. I'll add these to our collection at the Spark Community Recommendation Page at bookshop.org this week.
