I'll be marching today with two women friends and my husband of course. Thank you for this post and the excellent book recommendations as always.

I recommend The Girls of the Glimmer Factory by Jennifer Coburn. So very readable and an important story too.

Thanks for the mention. I kept meaning to respond to your reply in the comments on your last post to encourage awareness of the Stories that Soar program of Literacy Connects. Children write stories and put them in a magic box, and adults act them out— it is really beautiful.

These times are so disturbing. Last time Trump was elected President I became such a doom scroller and so depressed— I found myself unable to read books. I am determined not to let that happen again while also trying to stay informed, make calls, and show up for my community where I can. Once I get through this year’s festival that is! Thanks again!

Beautiful post. Thank you Betsy. I look forward to checking out the Hidden Brain segment you mentioned. Sounds great!....i have a book recommendation for you. "The Safekeep", a debut novel by Yael Van Der Wouden. It is safe to say this is my fave book of 2025 so far. It's absolutely stunning. Was blown away.

It’s absolutely brilliant - don’t read too much about it as you don’t want any spoilers ! 📚❤️
