I am trying to battle back from that fatigue now. The only ways I know to recharge are to turn inward. What do I love? What brings me joy? It usually involves caring for plants, my home, my body... creating clean slates for rest and creativity. I’m hoping to get back into form in a bit, once some craziness dies down. I’m trying to take it easy on myself, though.
Reboot the computer, put it in a closet, and go to the beach for the weekend. No cheating to see if the computer is working…..just the beach and the surf.
Thanks for your honesty, Beth. Maybe it's time for a "reset." meaning some days of doing next to nothing except what brings you peace and a sense of wellbeing. Walk at the beach, read a mystery or poetry, sleep or nap. Stop. These are the things I do when I get to the place you describe. Best wishes to you.
I wish you well Beth. You stop, step outside yourself if you can, and observe. Last Monday I had a Carotid endarterectomy, ten days after having a mini-stroke, when I woke up at 5am unable to use my right hand. I immediately took 300mg of Aspirin, then my wife Susan took me to our local hospital, which is just 10 minutes away. I was discharged on Tuesday and I am now recovering at home. It will take a while. See my post at: https://paperbagstories.substack.com/p/a-collection-of-bodies#details. Right now you need all your energy to return to an even keel. The only person other than me I am concerned for is Susan. The children have their own families, as do close friends. In turn, Susan is my anchor, as I am hers. Whilst in the hands of our beloved NHS, we have been surrounded by kindness and care. ‘Treated like royalty’ is how I describe it. I tell you this because there will others, like me, who have never met or spoken with you, who care deeply for you and look forward to the day when, pen in hand, you wrap us all in your friendship again. Love Robert xx.
Truly a kindred newsletter...
My recent post is about that breakdown

Oof, I get it. I go for a walk, clear my head the best I can and try to do one little thing at a time. It’s a challenge!
